Glacier Valley Transit

About Us

Glacier Valley Transit (GVT) is a non-profit public transportation system providing free public transportation within the Girdwood Valley.

They were founded in 2008 to serve Girdwood’s public transportation needs. Through federal grants, contracts with local businesses and local donations, riding GVT is free to the public. However, Donations are greatly appreciated.

Since 2008, GVT has shown steady growth and serves over 95,000 passengers annually.

Consider making a donation to Glacier Valley Transit, Girdwood’s free public transportation system. Donations of any amount are appreciated. GVT is a 501(c) 3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Services

Girdwood Valley Transit has 16 different pick-up locations. They run the bus from approximately 7 am to 11 pm. Here is a link to their schedule. It changes in the summer and winter.

SCHEDULE

They recently just adopted flex-scheduling. Now passengers can request pick-ups or drop-offs within ½ mile of their route. This service is weather and time dependent.

All buses are wheel chair accessible. Lifts have a capacity of 600-800 pounds. Please call a day ahead to schedule if your wheel chair requires the 800 lb lift.

Rules to Ride

  • Face coverings are required

  • No food, drinks or pets allowed

  • Seats in front are for senior citizens and disabled

  • Keep Ski equipment secured

  • Remain seated until bus stops
